There has to be a bit of strategy when connecting with people - no doubt - but we can still be ourselves and give to our peeps (not just coming to them when you need something). You know, like a two way street. Networking is not just taking and benefiting from your connections. I got this awesome article about the people I should know and want to share it with you too!
This article actually came to me a long time ago from my colleagues - fancy that, my network shared it with me!
Are you sharing things with your people? Keeping your network healthy and warm rather than dried up and cold - you gotta contact people and check in with them from time to time - send them information that might be interesting to them. Let them know what you are up to - and for sure ask them how they are doing and what is going on in their world.
Mid to late September and January is a great time to reach out to your contacts. Everyone is back into the swing of things, work is usually getting back to a normal pace and vacations are usually done. What a great time to touch base and see how the summer or holidays were.
